Woodbridge - The Woodbridge Police Department (WPD) will participate in “National Prescription Drug Take Back Day” on Sat., April 27, 2013 from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the WPD Headquarters located at Town Hall, One Main Street, Woodbridge. The national prescription drug “give-back” program is sponsored by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Woodbridge Police Department and is designed to prevent prescription drug abuse.
According to Woodbridge Police Director Robert Hubner, the WPD will collect expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs that are potentially dangerous if left in the family medicine cabinet. Law enforcement investigations have determined that medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse and that individuals that abuse prescription drugs often obtained them from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet.

Now that old man winter is finally ready to give way to the tulips going into bloom heralding spring and summer, young women (and men) get set to graduate from schools and colleges and attend proms. This, of course, involves getting dressed to impress and groomed to look their very best, including the shoes they purchase. For the ladies, it’s important to make the right decision when purchasing shoes for these momentous occasions, as well as everyday life, to avoid pain and potential problems with their feet.

The "State-of-the-Township" is sound and Woodbridge is well-positioned to take advantage of a steadily rebounding state, national, regional, and local economy in 2013. Over the past several years, the Administration recognized that long-term economic planning and business incentives, combined with significant efforts to control the cost of municipal government (while maintaining a consistent level of services and programs) was key to a strong economic future - an economic future that will benefit Township residents, businesses, and industry in coming years. While the "State-of-the-Township" address traditionally reports to the Chamber of Commerce and the business community, it is also an opportunity to report to Township residents. One of the most important aspects of municipal government is our ability to maintain and improve the "Quality-of-Life" for all residents - that mission and commitment remains "front and center" in the coming year.

Construction of the second Woodbridge Wawa store is underway and represents landmark redevelopment of a long-abandoned and blighted section of Route 1 in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township. The redevelopment project will continue to spur the Township economy through the creation of more than 100 full-time retail jobs and dozens of temporary construction jobs. The Route 1 redevelopment project will add a substantial tax ratable to the Township, not to mention that long-abandoned and under-utilized buildings are being demolished to make way for redevelopment.
The Route 1 Wawa store redevelopment project site is a 68,729 square foot corner tract on the northbound side of Route 1, north of West Smith Street in Avenel. The Gem Motel, the long-vacant Mom's Diner, and a vacant auto repair shop will be demolished for construction of the new 4,188 square foot Wawa retail store and convenience center. The gasoline center will include 12 double-sided gasoline pumps on six concrete islands under a 30'x 160' canopy.
